How to Choose an SEO Company in Bangladesh: 10 Questions to Ask

Business owner meeting an SEO agency team to discuss a proposal

To choose an SEO company in Bangladesh, ask every shortlisted agency the same ten questions about results, methods, reporting, access, pricing and contract terms, then pick the one that gives specific, checkable answers and refuses to guarantee rankings. The questions below are designed to separate agencies that do real work from those that sell reports and cheap links.

Softwix has run SEO campaigns from Dhaka since 2017 for clients in Bangladesh and more than 20 other countries. You can see how we answer them on our SEO company in Bangladesh page, but the checklist works for any agency you are considering, including us.

Why does choosing the right SEO company matter?

Because SEO takes months to pay off, a poor choice costs you both the fees and the time you could have spent growing. Unsafe tactics can also leave your site worse off than before.

Google’s SEO Starter Guide notes that some changes take effect in a few hours while “others could take several months”. That delay makes it hard to spot a weak agency early, which is why the questions you ask before signing matter so much. If you are still deciding whether SEO is worth the investment at all, start with our guide on why SEO is important for business.

Google publishes its own advice on how to hire an SEO (updated June 2026). Several of the questions below build on it, adapted for the Bangladesh market.

1. Can you show results for businesses like mine?

A good SEO company can show you examples of work for similar businesses or markets, and explain what they did and how long it took. Google suggests asking any SEO for examples of previous work and success stories, and about their experience in your industry and location.

Ask for details you can check:

  • The website (if the client allows it), so you can see the pages and content yourself.
  • The starting point, what changed and the time frame.
  • Business results, such as enquiries or sales, not just rankings for a handful of keywords.

Industry experience matters in Bangladesh because markets behave very differently. A garment exporter targeting European buyers, a Dhaka clinic and a local e-commerce store need different strategies, keywords and even languages (English, Bangla or both).

2. Do you guarantee first-page rankings?

The right answer is no. Google states plainly: “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.”

Google also warns against SEOs that claim a “special relationship” with Google or offer “priority submit”. A company that guarantees “Top 3 in 30 days” is either targeting keywords nobody searches for or planning tactics that may not last.

What a good agency can commit to is the work: the number of pages optimised, technical issues fixed, content published and outreach carried out, plus realistic targets based on your competitors.

3. What will you do in the first 90 days?

You should get a clear plan that starts with an audit and lists specific tasks in priority order. If an agency cannot tell you what it will do before you pay, it probably does not know.

A typical first 90 days looks like this:

  1. Weeks 1–2: technical audit, keyword research, competitor analysis and tracking setup.
  2. Weeks 3–6: fix critical technical issues, optimise key service or product pages, set up or clean up Google Business Profile for local businesses.
  3. Weeks 7–12: publish new content, start outreach, improve internal linking and review early data.

For local businesses, ask specifically about Google Business Profile. Our Google Business Profile guide for Dhaka businesses shows the level of detail to expect. A free audit is also a good way to compare how agencies think about your site.

4. How do you build links?

A trustworthy agency earns links through outreach, digital PR, partnerships and content that others want to reference. It should be able to show you every link it builds.

Backlink packages such as “500 backlinks” or “high DA guest posts” are widely advertised online. Google’s spam policies (updated August 2026) define link spam as creating links “primarily for the purpose of manipulating search rankings”, and list buying or selling links, excessive link exchanges and automated link programs as examples.

Ask the agency for a sample link report from a recent month. Look at the sites themselves: are they real publications with real readers, relevant to the client’s industry? Or are they sites that publish anything on any topic?

5. Who writes the content, and how is it checked?

Content should be written or edited by people who understand your business, checked for accuracy and written for your customers first. Ask who the writers are and what the editing process looks like.

AI writing tools are widely used, and Google’s spam policies do not ban them. What they do prohibit is scaled content abuse: generating many pages mainly to manipulate rankings rather than help users. Ask how the agency adds expertise, original information and fact-checking to anything it publishes.

Also ask about language. If your customers search in Bangla, you need native Bangla writing, not machine translation of English pages.

6. Can you fix technical problems yourselves?

The best answer is yes, with developers on the team who can work on your platform. Many SEO companies in Bangladesh only send audit reports and leave the fixes to you.

Ask which platforms they work with, such as WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or custom PHP, and whether technical fixes are included in the monthly fee or billed separately. Site speed is a good test topic: ask how they would improve your Core Web Vitals and see if the answer is specific. Our guide to speeding up a WordPress site shows the kind of steps a capable team should mention.

7. What will you report, and how often?

Expect a monthly report that lists the work done, plus organic traffic, conversions such as calls, form fills or sales, and keyword movement. Rankings alone are not enough.

Report section Why it matters
Work completed this month Shows what you paid for
Organic traffic and conversions Connects SEO to business results
Keyword visibility Shows progress before traffic catches up
Links earned Lets you check link quality
Technical health Shows issues found and fixed
Next month’s plan Keeps the work accountable

Google also suggests asking how you will communicate with the SEO and whether it will share all changes made to your site. Agree a regular call or meeting, not just an emailed PDF.

8. What access do you need, and who owns the accounts?

You should own your website, domain, hosting, Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Google Business Profile. The agency should be added as a user, never as the only owner.

Google’s Search Console permissions guide explains that only owners can add or remove users, while full and restricted users can view data and take limited actions. Its hiring advice adds that during an audit you should grant only read access to Search Console.

This matters when you change agencies. If a previous agency or freelancer registered your domain, Facebook page or Business Profile in their own name, switching becomes slow and painful.

9. What exactly is included in the price?

Ask for a written monthly scope: hours or deliverables, number of pages, content pieces, technical work and outreach. Two quotes with the same price can include very different amounts of work.

SEO prices in Bangladesh vary widely, from very cheap freelancer packages to agency retainers in the hundreds or thousands of US dollars for international campaigns. Our guide to SEO cost in Bangladesh breaks down typical market ranges and what each level usually includes. For reference, Softwix’s published SEO packages are $250, $700 and $1,000 per month, each with a listed scope.

Be cautious about prices that seem too low for the work promised. Real content, outreach and technical fixes take skilled time; very cheap packages often rely on automated tools and bought links.

10. What are the contract and exit terms?

Look for a clear notice period, no long lock-in for a first engagement, and a written promise that all work, content and accounts are handed over if you leave. Softwix, for example, works on month-to-month retainers with 30 days’ notice.

Also check:

  • How payments work, including currency and whether you can pay by bank transfer, card or mobile financial services.
  • Whether there are set-up fees and what they cover.
  • Whether the agency keeps any content, links or tools after the contract ends.
  • How disputes are handled, and which company entity you are contracting with.

What other red flags should you watch for?

Beyond the ten questions, be wary of agencies that contact you out of the blue with alarming claims about your site. Google specifically warns about SEO firms that email “out of the blue”.

  • Secrecy about methods, or claims of a “secret formula”.
  • Pressure to sign quickly or pay a year upfront.
  • No physical address, registered company or real team you can speak to.
  • Reviews that all appeared in the same week, or only on the agency’s own site.
  • Promises of results from “submitting your site to 1,000 search engines”.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if an SEO company in Bangladesh is legitimate?

Check that it is a registered business with a real address, a team you can speak to and examples of work you can verify. Ask the ten questions above and compare written answers from at least three agencies. A legitimate company will explain its methods and will not guarantee rankings.

Should I hire a freelancer or an SEO agency?

A skilled freelancer can be a good choice for a small site with a limited budget, especially for one area such as on-page SEO. An agency is usually better when you need technical development, content, outreach and reporting together. Whichever you choose, the same questions about methods, reporting and account ownership apply.

How long should I give an SEO company before judging results?

Give it at least a few months, depending on your competition and the state of your site. Google’s starter guide says some changes take effect in hours while others take several months. You should, however, see the agreed work being completed from the first month.

Is a cheap SEO package in Bangladesh worth it?

Only if the scope is clear and the methods are safe. Very low prices often mean automated reports, bought links or mass-produced content, which can harm your site under Google’s spam policies. Compare what each package actually delivers per month, not just the price.

Can a Bangladesh SEO company work for clients abroad?

Yes. Many Bangladeshi agencies serve clients in the UK, US and Europe, and the time difference can help work get done overnight. Check that the agency has experience in your target market, writes in native-level English and can show results for international keywords.
