Website Development Cost in Bangladesh (2026): What You Should Pay

Web developer working on a website layout on a laptop at a desk

Website development in Bangladesh typically costs BDT 10,000–40,000 for a simple landing page, BDT 20,000–80,000 for a 5–10 page business website, BDT 40,000–250,000 for an ecommerce store, and BDT 100,000 or more for a custom web application. On top of the build, budget roughly BDT 3,000–10,000 a year for a domain and basic hosting, plus ongoing maintenance.

These are typical market ranges and they vary widely by provider, features and design quality. Softwix has designed and built business websites and online stores from Dhaka since 2017, for local companies and for clients in more than 20 countries. This guide breaks down what each budget level gets you, the costs people forget, and how to judge a quote. If you already know you need a new site, our web design service page explains how we scope projects.

All figures are typical 2026 market ranges for Bangladesh. Your price depends on scope, design, integrations and who builds it.

How much does a website cost in Bangladesh in 2026?

Most small and medium businesses in Bangladesh spend between BDT 20,000 and BDT 150,000 on a new website. The low end buys a template-based site; the high end buys custom design, more pages, integrations and proper SEO setup.

Listings on marketplaces show how wide the spread is. In October 2026, website packages on the BDStall marketplace ranged from about BDT 12,500 for a basic WooCommerce build and BDT 14,999 for a budget ecommerce package to BDT 95,000–120,000 for custom Laravel or B2B ecommerce sites, and up to BDT 350,000 for a PHP ecommerce system with ERP and apps.

Very cheap packages are usually a pre-made theme with your logo and text dropped in. That can be enough for a small business that just needs to be found, but it rarely fits a company that wants the site to generate leads or sales.

What do you get at each price level?

Price tracks three things: how much is custom-designed, how many features are built in, and how much care goes into speed, SEO and security. Here is what each band usually includes.

Budget: BDT 10,000–30,000

  • A ready-made theme with light customisation.
  • Three to five pages, a contact form and basic mobile layout.
  • Little or no SEO setup, speed tuning or content support.
  • Often built by a solo freelancer with limited after-launch support.

Mid range: BDT 30,000–100,000

  • A custom layout based on your brand, built on WordPress or a similar CMS.
  • Five to fifteen pages, blog, enquiry forms and WhatsApp or Messenger links.
  • Basic on-page SEO, Google Analytics and Search Console setup.
  • Training so your team can edit content, plus a short support period.

Premium: BDT 100,000 and above

  • Fully custom design, user experience planning and copywriting.
  • Ecommerce with payment gateways, courier integration and stock management.
  • Performance work to pass Core Web Vitals, structured data and a full SEO launch checklist.
  • Custom features, multilingual content (Bangla and English), or integrations with ERP and CRM systems.

How much does an ecommerce website cost in Bangladesh?

A working ecommerce site in Bangladesh typically costs BDT 40,000–100,000 for a small catalogue on WooCommerce, and BDT 100,000–250,000 or more for larger stores with custom design and integrations. The cost rises with the number of products, payment methods and third-party connections.

The main cost items in an online store build are:

  1. Product setup. Uploading products, variations, images and categories. Large catalogues take real time unless you supply a clean spreadsheet.
  2. Payment gateways. Connecting local options such as bKash, Nagad or SSLCommerz, plus cash on delivery. Each gateway has its own merchant approval process and transaction fees, separate from the build cost.
  3. Delivery. Shipping zones, inside and outside Dhaka rates, and courier integrations.
  4. Checkout rules. Hiding cash on delivery on high-value orders, or offering different payment methods to wholesale buyers. Our free Beep Conditional Payments plugin handles this in WooCommerce without custom code, though some stores have it built bespoke instead.
  5. Marketing feeds and tracking. Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics ecommerce tracking and product feeds for Google Shopping or Meta catalogues.

WooCommerce itself costs nothing to use. Its official pricing page describes it as free and open-source with no monthly subscription and a 0% revenue share, while estimating that paid extensions typically cost $29–$299 a year each and hosting $25–$350 a month for most stores (that hosting range reflects mostly international hosting, and small Bangladesh stores often start lower).

Should you build on WordPress, Shopify or custom code?

For most Bangladesh businesses, WordPress (with WooCommerce for selling) gives the best balance of cost, flexibility and SEO control. Shopify suits sellers who want a hosted platform and are comfortable with monthly fees, while custom PHP development makes sense when your workflow does not fit a standard CMS.

WordPress is popular for good reason. W3Techs data from October 2026 shows WordPress running 40.1% of all websites and 58.6% of sites with a known content management system. That means developers, themes and plugins are easy to find, which keeps costs down. The software is also free under the GPL licence, as WordPress.org explains.

Platform Build cost Ongoing cost Best for
WordPress Low to medium Hosting, premium plugins, maintenance Business sites, blogs, most local businesses
WooCommerce Medium Hosting, extensions, gateway fees Online stores wanting full control and local gateways
Shopify Low to medium Monthly subscription, apps, transaction fees Sellers who want a fully hosted store
Custom PHP/Laravel High Developer support, hosting Portals, booking systems, SaaS and unique workflows

If your project needs features no plugin offers, our WordPress development team can build custom functionality on top of WordPress, which is often cheaper than starting from scratch.

What ongoing costs come after the website is built?

A website is not a one-off purchase. Expect to pay every year for a domain and hosting, and every month or quarter for updates, backups and security checks.

Running cost Typical cost (BDT) Notes
.com.bd domain 700 to register, 1,020 to renew (per year) BTCL rates from January 2026, plus VAT
.bd domain 1,280 to register, 1,600 to renew (per year) BTCL rates from January 2026, plus VAT
Shared hosting 2,000–8,000 per year Fine for small business sites
VPS or cloud hosting 15,000–60,000+ per year Better for busy stores and web apps
SSL certificate Free to 10,000+ per year Free certificates suit most sites
Premium plugins and themes Varies Many are priced in US dollars per year
Maintenance plan 3,000–15,000 per month Updates, backups, uptime and security monitoring

The domain figures come from a Financial Express report (January 2026) on BTCL cutting .bd domain prices by 36%. Hosting and maintenance figures are typical market ranges and vary by provider.

It is tempting to skip maintenance to save money. The risk is that outdated plugins and themes become a common way for sites to be hacked, and a cleanup or rebuild after an attack usually costs more than a year of basic upkeep. If you manage updates yourself, at least keep automatic off-site backups running.

What makes a website quote go up?

The biggest cost drivers are custom design, the number of unique page templates, ecommerce features and integrations with other systems. Content is the cost people most often forget.

  • Custom design. Original layouts and illustrations cost more than adapting a theme.
  • Number of templates. Ten pages using the same layout cost far less than ten different layouts.
  • Content and copywriting. Writing service pages, product descriptions and translating them into Bangla adds time.
  • Integrations. Payment gateways, SMS, couriers, CRM, ERP or accounting software.
  • User accounts. Member areas, dashboards, booking or multi-vendor marketplaces.
  • Speed and SEO. Proper image handling, caching, schema markup and redirects from an old site.
  • Revisions. Unclear briefs lead to rounds of changes. A clear brief saves money.

How do you compare website quotes fairly?

Compare quotes line by line, not by the final total. Two quotes of BDT 50,000 can describe very different websites.

  1. Send every provider the same written brief: pages, features, examples you like and your deadline.
  2. Ask what is included: design, development, content upload, SEO setup, training and support period.
  3. Check ownership: the domain, hosting account and admin logins should be in your name.
  4. Ask about speed and mobile: request a Google PageSpeed Insights test of a site they built recently.
  5. Look at live work, not just screenshots, and check those sites on your phone.
  6. Get payment milestones in writing, for example 40% upfront, 40% on design approval and 20% on launch.
  7. Agree what happens after launch: bug fixes, updates and who you call when something breaks.

A new website also needs a plan to get traffic. If search is part of that plan, our guide to SEO cost in Bangladesh shows what to budget once the site is live.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum cost of a website in Bangladesh?

A basic template-based website can be built for around BDT 10,000–15,000, plus a few thousand taka a year for a domain and hosting. At that price expect limited pages, design and support. For a business that relies on the site to win customers, budgets of BDT 30,000 or more are more realistic.

How much does a WordPress website cost in Bangladesh?

A typical WordPress business website costs BDT 20,000–80,000 to build, depending on the number of pages and how custom the design is. WordPress itself is free, so the cost is design, development, premium plugins and hosting. A WooCommerce store on WordPress usually starts from around BDT 40,000 for a properly configured shop.

How long does it take to build a website?

A landing page can be ready in a few days, a business website in two to five weeks, and an ecommerce store in four to ten weeks. Custom web applications take several months. The biggest cause of delay is usually waiting for content, images and approvals from the client.

Is it cheaper to hire a freelancer or an agency?

Freelancers are usually cheaper for small sites, and many do excellent work. Agencies cost more but bring design, development, SEO and support under one roof, with less risk if one person becomes unavailable. For a store or a site that drives most of your sales, that continuity is often worth the extra cost.

Do I have to pay every year for a website?

Yes. Domains and hosting renew every year, and a .com.bd domain costs BDT 1,020 a year to renew under BTCL’s January 2026 rates. Most sites also need regular updates and backups, which you can do yourself or cover with a maintenance plan.
